It is Sunday 1st Feb 2009 and I have just returned from a fish & chip tea with my kids. We first went to Tingley Bar where we found the door to the restaurant was locked, but there were people inside. There was a big sign over the door that said 'open everyday until 8:30pm' and a hand written note on the door saying 'closing 6pm on Monday'.

As it was only 6:50pm on a Sunday we tried knocking. Eventually a waitress came and told us 'we shut at 7pm on a Sunday'. We pointed out that the signs did not say anything about this and that it was not yet 7pm anyway but she just shrugged her shoulders and walked away.

We had a lovely fish & chip tea at the Mermaid just along the road and I heartily recommend that anyone else should do the same rather than bother with Tingley Bar.
