"Sunuser gets the bird! One for sorrow, two for joy"A review of Sunuser Ltd by Hawkeye - Thursday 2nd of July 2009Advertisements
Whilst happy enough with the Sunuser panels, when they are working, they are NOT working on a regular basis. The problem is birds - clever ones: magpies. They have discovered that the product used to fix the probe into the panels is very good to eat! And even the wire on the probe seems like a very attractive worm! Solution: cover with wire mesh - not too expensive. Other alternative suggestions from an independent source have been covering the whole unit with a protective mesh (at a cost of £500!) or installing a bird scarer or even something that will give a mild electric shock (equivalent I presume to an electric fence for cattle). So far Sunuser don't seem to want to do any of these and insist there's no problem with the methods they use. IF I could get at the panels, then I could replace the probe. But they are up on a flat roof of a loft conversion. Sunuser did their survey and decided it was OK to put them there, so surely they should find a method of protection from the birds? Watch this space! |
