"Poor State"

A review of Armley Cemetery by Barbara written on Friday 24th of April 2015

I was shocked to see the state of the cemetery on visiting a family plot/grave. We couldn't find it and after searching a couple of the rows of graves decided to examine the area where we thought it was. I found the small grave stone on it's side, round the back and between two other headstones. That particular section looked as though it had been vandalised. Many of the headstones, monuments and flower holders were broken, dismantled and scottered all over the place. On one particular grave which had edging stones looked as though someone had been sitting there, drinking and discarded the empty cans on the sunken grave. The old part of the cemetery was a real disgrace. It looked as though the grounds hadn't been tended to for some time. Shouldn't care be taken to make sure the right monuments and stones are on the correct plots. The front, most recent graves were in good condition I am pleased to say. .
