"Dont all cars produce carbon"

My Nissan X trail suddenly lost power and was chucking out loads of smoke. I had it picked up by my garage who said the Egr Valve had failed. I notified Olympic Warranties who said they would dend out an Independent Assessor and after his visit they phoned to say they would not cover the repair as due to Carbon build up. This was witout even looking inside the valve or testing the electrics on it. As all cars produce some carbon then they should state in yheir warranty that they wont cover the EGR as that is basically what they are saying now.
